Pain Management is a family affair because people in great pain may not necessarily speak up for themselves, and family be rare encouraged to become advocate for their loved one who may be suffering from pain in silence. Family member and the Care Team should ask if he or she is in pain. if the answer is yes, ask the doctor who is expert on Pain Management what else can be done to alleviate the pain. If the physician and the Care Team unwilling to address the issue of pain to your satisfaction, ask the team for Doctors order for Hospice Care and discuss the Hospice care option to the patient & family member and ask the Hospice Agency to explain Hospice Medicare/Medical benefits, Advance directive and End of Life Care.
